wetlands of Bay
The Bay encloses many wetlands of great biological and ecological interest, particularly the marshes of Châteauneuf and Roz-Landrieux, but also the marshes of Dragey and Sougeal. At the bird observatory, you can watch the life on the marsh in all seasons. There are migrating birds such as swans, but also the well-known domestic geese for which the Sougeal marsh is renowned as well as its traditional annual festival in July.

The RAMSAR Convention

Aims
The aim of this convention is to preserve and rationalize the use of wetlands through local, regional and national action together with international cooperation, as a contribution to sustainable development throughout the world. This international treaty, signed in Ramsar (Iran) on 2nd February 1971, came into effect on 21st December 1975.
France has adhered to it since 1986. Each State registers the sites meeting the biological criteria established by the Conference of the Parties on the "Ramsar wetlands" list. This registration is made without prejudicing the exclusive sovereignty rights of States and must be relayed by an internal preservation policy, to be effective.

The Bay, ramasar wetlands
The bay of Mont-Saint-Michel is registered on the "Ramasar wetlands" list, as well as the Bay of Veys (Manche – Calvados), the Golfe du Morbihan (Gulf of Morbihan), the Camargue and more than 1,300 other sites around the world.
