Hutteau hunting
Hutteau hunting is a variant of hide hunting. The half-buried shelter is a wooden box, which is temporarily installed and into which one or two hunters can slip to lie in wait.
Beating
Beating: the hunter and his dog move through the grass raising the game which is shot as it takes off. This kind of hunting is essentially for shore birds.
Hunters are grouped into two associations : the Ille-et-Vilaine waterfowl hunters’ association and the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel maritime hunters’ Association.
The two categories of species taken by shooting mainly concern waterfowl. Teal and widgeon are the species most often hunted in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. These are mainly hunted in the migratory period following mating (from end July to September/beginning October), during spring tides on the edge of sand banks and grasslands.

In the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, hunting is done on the Domaine Public Maritime (DPM) (Public Maritime Area).
Hide hunting
Hide hunting is done from a shelter that is half buried in the middle of meadow land. In front of the hide, a pond attracts ducks. The hunters are allowed to shoot 25 waterfowl per hide in 24 hours. There are 37 hides on the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, 17 of which are in the Manche département.

Duck flighting
Duck flighting is done at dawn or dusk, taking advantage of flights of ducks between the inland marshes and the shores. This is a short shoot which lasts about half an hour.
