In the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, there are more than

4,000 hectares of salt-meadows, which is unique in Europe.

There are many rare species and associations on a European scale in the wetlands of the Bay. Theses marshes contain the richest collection of plant species on the coast of France.
A special mention should be given to the presence of Halimione pedunculata, (stalked orache) one of the most threatened maritime species in France.
